If you haven’t tried Aloe Vera for Psoriasis, now might be the time.
You might have heard before that Aloe Vera is really good for the skin, and it’s true that it has been known as a healing plant for 1000s of years.
But did you know that there is now actual scientific proof that it works for Psoriasis and that it is safe to use? (There are a few people who are allergic to it, as with anything, so test a small patch of skin first).
If you’re reading this page, no doubt you already know about this uncomfortable and unsightly skin complaint.
Its main features are a non-infectious but sore and red inflammation of the skin, characterized by silver coloured scales. These often cause bleeding when they are removed. It usually occurs on the head, elbows, knees and lower back area and can be triggered by events such as scratching, getting sunburned or surgical scars.
People normally have a genetic pre-disposition to the condition, but it can also be brought on by stress.
Conventional remedies have included coal tar, corticosteroids, retinoids, cyclostatic and other drugs and ultra violet radiation. Since some of these can be unpleasant to use and may have long term side effects, a safe alternative treatment has been on the wish list of many a sufferer.
Enter Aloe Vera!
The cream used was a hydrophilic cream (this just means it can dissolve in water) with a 0.5% extract of Aloe Vera. So you don’t need a huge amount of the active ingredient.
Our suggestion would be either, to get your chemist to make you up a cream, or make your own. If you have a cream that you know your skin likes, you can simply add a little pure Aloe Vera gel from your own plant, or a bought gel and there you are.
There are also special hypoallergenic creams made by various different companies especially for Psoriasis. Some of these contain other ingredients such as Manuka honey, which has anti-bacterial properties (as does Aloe Vera), Coconut Oil and Hemp Seed Oil.
Some of these are excellent moisturisers.
But everybody’s skin is different, so you will have to see what suits you best.
Isn’t it wonderful to be able to find an alternative remedy which is actually proven and safe, before spending lots of money on your Psoriasis treatment?
Let us know how you get on and whether it works for you. People in that trial above had had their Psoriasis for 8 years or more before they were cured by Aloe Vera. We hope you’ve found this miracle plant much sooner in your journey.
Best of luck.
